Yesterday was a sporting event: My local team (Chargers) vs. the local team of several of my Burning Man camp mates (Steelers.)
It happened to fall on the day of one of our “Bat Brunches.” (Monthly gathering of our Bat Country camp mates.)
So we reluctantly combined Bat Brunch and Football Day. I decided to celebrate a hybrid of the two.
I decorated the place with signs: “SPORTSMANSHIP!” & “DO YOUR BEST!”
I also painted my face like a TRUE fan. Of course, I was careful to use colors NOT represented by any of the teams playing.
We video-conferenced in our Pittsburgh friends using iChat and made a wager that the losing city would have to pose for a nude group shot.
I’ll be honest, being mooned by Dr. Zayaz’ hairy butt every time the Steelers scored *did* make the game more exciting. (And may have been the crowning achievement of Web 2.0)
Alas, I could not stay interested in the game for more than a few minutes at a time.
That being said, I HAVE gained a ton of respect for sports fans over the last week.
I got some amazing comments to my last nbc video, and my perspective has totally changed. In fact, I recorded a follow up video response that I will post soon.
Best. Day. Ever.
